Oh, I almost forgot... So far, our idea for a bill would have something to do with habitat preservation, since so much attention is given to saving the animals themselves, but not their habitats. In order to survive, these creatures need suitable places to live as well.
Yes, Nicole and I discussed this in the last class. Current legislation does not adequately protect species habitat, it protects species alone. Also, there are discrepencies between state and federal legislation regarding endangered species. There is also a lack of public awareness about local endangered species. We should find a time to get together and figure out which areas each of us can research and then come together to actually develop our bill.
hey sorry i didn't get the emails (they went straight to the spam somehow). but i was thinking... maybe we should change our business. rather than a exotic pet shop, maybe a wildlife rehabilitation/sanctuary center. so that it wouldn't seem so hypocritical. what do you think?
I like the habitat preservation idea. It goes right along with the open space initiatives in many states. I had cut out an article entitled "Endangered Landscape" from the Sunday Daily News on Sept 30, 07, page H1. You can probably get it online. I have it. Would be glad to meet with your group or I could leave it on my lab door for one of you to pick up. Also have a relevant NY Times Mag article. Also, look to see if there is any legislation or if there are any federal or state bills that are enacted or proposed. Why don't you split that task up and get info; then we could meet..Let me know. Sorry guys, I did not recieve the email about meeting in class today until just now, it got to my inbox at 10:30 last night and I haven't checked my email till now, and the other email went into my spam. Let me know what days/times in general everyone can meet. I need to know earlier than the day before because my computer is a mess and I can't check my email everyday sometimes.
I think we have our topics pretty well thought out. We're supposed to email Dr. Fagan by the 16 to let her know what we have done so far right? We should probably start talking about how exactly we are formulating the actual bill. Also do any of you know what the due date for the actual presentation is?
The hard copy of the bill is due November 28. We should meet soon to work on this. I'd really like to meet before the Thanksgiving break. Is sometime on Monday (the 19th) good? I'm free after 3:00pm.

Hi.
What are convenient days/times for you both to get together and start brainstorming?

That sounds good. When are you free?
