We have been corresponding via email and buddy chat and have begun to divide up our topic into specific areas. The subtopics are current laws, benefits of medical marijuana use, comparative analysis of marijuana to other legal and illegal substances, and how its use works in areas where it is legal. We will provide updates as we progress.
This is a good website that shows the different laws regarding marijuana issues. Has everything from possession to growing marijuana in different states.

This will give us a basic framework of which state we could start our business.
As we know, the war on drugs, such as marijuana, is very expensive to us taxpayers and the government. Here is an article based on economic statistics on how legalizing and taxing marijuana distribution can be beneficial to everyone. The government can place their law enforcement agencies on other tasks, rather than controlling drug trafficking and also, the taxpayers save money. In this article, it shows that if Canada legalized and taxed marijuana, it would net an income of $2 billion just from taxes. This just shows how much revenue the U.S. government is losing by not legalizing marijuana.
I located some information regarding the NJ bill regarding medical marijuana. I also found that Senator Nicholas Scutari is its primary sponsor via the NJ Legislature website. This is the email that I sent him. I am waiting on a response.
Dear Senator Scutari,
I am currently enrolled in Ethics in Science at Rutgers University - New Brunswick. Our main project for this class is to draft a proposal for a bill that deals with a controversial issue in today's society. My group's focus is on medical marijuana. I have located and perused the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act and was wondering if you could provide me with any information regarding its status and current proceeding on the bill. If you could respond via email at ekrause@eden.rutgers.edu, I would greatly appreciate it.
Im so lost on how exactly to prepare this bill. What format should we be using. A powerpoint presentation of the bill or a Text document. Please if anyone has any feed back let me know
